Political PartiesPolitical parties in Spain
There are two big political parties in Spain: PP and PSOE. PP is the main right-winged party. They feel strongly about the unity of Spain and have a strong catholic component. They are seen as friends of the USA and the UK, friends of free markets and defenders of traditions. PSOE is considered to be a centre-left party. They see Spain more as a confederate country, usually considered more aligned with Europe and intervention in markets. They are usually seen as more worried about liberal values, climate change, getting the money from the rich and giving it to the poor. Other parties: communists, and separatist’s parties. Some political parties linked to Autonomous Regions believe that the autonomy of their Autonomous Regions is not enough. Currently, PSOE has ruled since 2004 under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as Prime Minister of Spain. In Almuñécar, in addition to the 2 main parties, there are: the governing party the CA (Convergencia Andaluza); and the opposition parties, the PA (Partido Andalucista), the Almuñécar Mayor Juan Carlos Benavide’s former party, and the IU (Izquierda Unida), the United Left party.
