No More FREE parking in Almuñecar! ContinuedThe PP expresses its clear rejection of the extension of the blue zone in Velilla
Almuñécar's Popular Party PP has sought to distance themselves from the alliance with Convergencia Andaluza suggested by the PSOE and underlines its opposition to the extension of the blue zone in the Paseo de Velilla. In a statement, the Popular Party of Almuñécar clarifies that the award of a new contract of the blue zone "is the exclusive competence of the Local Government Committee, formed only by councilors from Convergencia Andaluza CA. The PP, like other opposition parties, has no involvement in awarding this contract to a private company. The controversy arose after the PP supported the local government team in the Tenders Committee. However, the Popular Party recalled that the Tenders Committee is an administrative body "that is limited to the opening of tenders and the study of reports of experts', without having any competition for the award of the contract" therefore its clear that there was no vote whatsoever. On the other hand, Almuñecars Polpular Party remembers that they at all times have objected to the extension of the blue zones in Paseo Maritmo, Avenida de Europa, Calle Guadix, etc. and in the area of La Herradura. "We have filed several motions demanding the full withdrawal of such measures, which have always been rejected or have not been handed a vote because the mayor, Juan Carlos Benavides has argued that the regulation of traffic and parking is an exclusive competence of the Mayor". Finally, the PP says to the Socialists of Almunecar PSOE that "if they want to appear to be in opposition, at least to do so responsibly and consistent with knowledge of the issues, and without telling untruths. On Saturdays, from 9.00 to 14.00. High season: From July 1 to September 30 and Easter, the schedule of the blue zone will be extended from 11 to 23 hours continuously.
